I have often dreamt of heaven. If Intercontinental Danang is as close as I get, I am pretty sure I would die happy. IC Danang has been a bucket-lister for a few years. We agreed that we would add this wonderfully indulgent hotel to our list for a couple of nights & we are glad we did! The hotel is built into a mountainside where monkeys live so there are monkey motifs everywhere. The restaurants & the IC club are built as if they are floating in the clouds & are quite remarkable. The grounds of the hotel are so immense that you are not really encouraged to walk anywhere. There is a top-to-bottom funicular and buggies to take you wherever you would like to go.
Four levels of accommodation are available, with Heaven being the top & offering the best views of the property & the private beach. We were in Heaven the first night & thought it was exactly this. We had a gorgeous room, a round deep-set bath & a large balcony with table, outdoor setting & sun lounges. It was pretty good. However, it was about to get even better. We were upgraded to a suite in the Earth level which made us feel like Bond villains. It was ENORMOUS with a wonderful outdoor area of desk, two king-size day beds, 2 outdoor eating areas, a study area & some free space. It was much closer to the kids club, pool, beach & activities. The design elements had been taken up several notches & it was quite breathtaking. The bath was like a pool. We had room service for dinner as we didn't want to leave.
Top 5
1. Being there - it was magnificent & a real once in a lifetime
2. Being upgraded. At a hotel like this, when there is an issue, it is fixed. We had been provided Club benefits as our initial Ambassador upgrade. However, like other ICs in Vietnam only, children under 12 are not allowed into the Club. As a result, this Ambassador benefit was not honouring the program so instead we really got to see how the other half lives & spent 2 days in the most luxurious pad we are ever likely to encounter.
3. Free champagne
4. A bath that all 3 of us could fit in together
5. Being able to witness a huge thunderstorm rolling in over the sea & then transforming the night sky, from one of our large daybeds.
